MAY THE BEST MENDOZA WIN!
The Fortunes are not the only hotties in Texas; their longtime friends the Mendozas are legendary for their good looks and ardent hearts. Tall and dark with soulful eyes, Matteo Mendoza is a pilot whose charms have too often been eclipsed by his more outgoing brother, Cisco. Now, Matteo has set his sights on cantina hostess Rachel Robinson. Brother, look out!
After several years on a self-imposed “romance diet,” Rachel finds Matteo to be a treat she just can’t resist. But she’s already been through her own family heartbreak—the last thing she wants is to come between the Mendozas! Can she learn that following her heart might lead to the greatest fortune of all?
This is one for the cowboy fans – obviously!
I think Mendoza’s Secret Fortune adheres to most of the “rules” of category books with the theme, and Marie Ferrarella is definitely one of Harlequin’s better-known and respected authors. This was a quick an easy read.
I’m not sure whether or not this is part of an already established series or whether it’s setting up a new one, but much of the start of the book goes into establishing characters and familial connections. I did think there was too much head-jumping and probably a bit too much time setting up the story rather than diving into the story..
I did like that the hero was a bit more reserved and a bit overlooked when up against his brother. That’s usually a trait given to the female characters and I liked the change.
I have a feeling other readers are going to enjoy this one more than me. I liked some things, but this wasn’t my favourite book.
