Hiding from the world
Tucking herself away in the Adirondack woods was supposed to keep Vivienne Harris safe. From dark memories of the Bronx, from danger, from entanglements. But when an orphaned bear cub raids her pantry and conservation officer Liam Walsh appears with news of poachers nearby, her private, peaceful world is turned upside down!
Suddenly two forces are drawing her out—Button, the cub who needs her help, and Liam, the man who’s dead set against her rehabilitating the bear. If she can just win Liam’s support, Vivie knows she can give Button a good life. And maybe find the courage to embrace a future with Liam .
Now, this cover is an interesting change from the usual fare of half-naked people embracing!
Clearly – as the cover tells you – the star of this book is the bear cub. Maybe I’m missing my kittens, but I was in the right mood to read about a baby bear being rescued! I have no idea how accurate any of this was – especially as we don’t have any bears in Australia! – but it seemed to be very, VERY well-researched. I think the author did an excellent job giving all the animals personalities.
Of course, this is also a romance, and I liked how hero and heroine didn’t just fall in love and agree on everything. They had different opinions on tackling things. I found both of them a little frustrating here and there, but that just meant that they were human and weren’t always right.
This was one of the more interesting category romances I’ve read recently, because it was such an original concept.
