Coming Soon: The Beast (Black Dagger Brotherhood #14)

Surely one of the most anticipated books of the year, The Beast will be released in two weeks.

Will I read it? I’m not sure yet. I love Rhage and Mary, but I think maybe I’m happy as they were after the first book they featured in.

Nothing is as it used to be for the Black Dagger Brotherhood. After avoiding war with the Shadows, alliances have shifted and lines have been drawn. The slayers of the Lessening Society are stronger than ever, preying on human weakness to acquire more money, more weapons, more power. But as the Brotherhood readies for an all-out attack on them, one of their own fights a battle within himself…

For Rhage, the Brother with the biggest appetites, but also the biggest heart, life was supposed to be perfect – or at the very least, perfectly enjoyable. Mary, his beloved shellan, is by his side and his King and his brothers are thriving. But Rhage can’t understand – or control – the panic and insecurity that plague him…

And that terrifies him – as well as distances him from his mate. After suffering mortal injury in battle, Rhage must reassess his priorities – and the answer, when it comes to him, rocks his world…and Mary’s. But Mary is on a journey of her own, one that will either bring them closer together or cause a split that neither will recover from…

  2. I don’t trust JRW with the happy ending anymore, so I think I’m content to leave Rhage and Mary where they are in my head.

    1. Yeah, I didn’t read the book where she killed her heroine, but I sure did have feelings about it! πŸ™‚

There are a few people who got ARCs of this one, and apparently it’s very romantic and happy, so maybe she overcompensated after the backlash from the other one.

I know Rhage is far from perfect, but I like him for some reason. I’m not sure I want to read this though, because it sounds like it might be cheesy – with babies. That’s not my idea of the BDB.

      1. Oh, that’s good to know! But…I already found most of the BDB books cheesy towards the end of each of the HEAs, so more cheesiness isn’t really going to win me over. But I’ll be lapping up everyone’s reactions to the book, good or bad. πŸ™‚
