Reid Alexander is used to getting what he wants – and what he wants next is his newest costar, Emma Pierce. The universe is lining up nicely to grant his wish, until he’s confronted with two unexpected obstacles on location: a bitter ex-girlfriend and a rival for Emma’s affections.
Emma Pierce just got her big break after years of filming commercials and made-for-TV movies. Winning the lead role in a wide-release film – opposite the very hot Reid Alexander – should be a dream come true. But Emma’s heart is hiding a secret fantasy: she wants to be a normal girl.
*This is an unedited review from a few years ago. I will be revisiting this series soon.*
I have to admit, I was sceptical when I started reading. On one hand, Tammara Webber’s book, Easy, was absolutely incredible, and so I already knew she was a very talented writer. On the other, the book’s celebrity theme was either going to be very good or very clichéd.
It turned out I loved Between the Lines so much that I immediately bought and started reading book two in the series when I finished this one.
Though the blurb might lead you to believe this is a straightforward romance between two actors, it couldn’t be further from the truth. The book weaves a web of characters and relationships, and you never know exactly where things are going to go. There’s a lot more to this story than Emma and Reid.
Apparently the author has some behind-the-scenes knowledge of the film industry, and I don’t think this story could have been written otherwise. It’s fascinating to get these glimpses into celebrity and how different people cope with it. The self-indulgence mixed with the young age of the characters can definitely produce some monsters!
This was such a smart book. I highly recommend it.
