Lisa Kleypas’ Upcoming Book

Devil in Spring (2017) (The third book in the Ravenels series) A novel by Lisa Kleypas

I’ve already done a couple of posts about this upcoming book (and its anachronistic prom queen cover – is this young adult fantasy??), but now Devil in Spring – one of my most anticipated reads – has a blurb.

I have no idea why Lisa Kleypas, the woman who singlehandedly converted me to historical romance, is always given such bland book blurbs. It doesn’t seem fair!

However, even if this doesn’t make it sound interesting, I’m sure it’s going to be a great read.

My reviews of the first two books in the series:

Cold-Hearted Rake

Marrying Winterborne

The next one. If you don’t know, this is about the son of the characters from The Devil in Winter:

New York Times bestselling author Lisa Kleypas combines the worlds of the Wallflowers with Marrying Winterborne in this irresistible story of how Sebastian’s son Gabriel, Lord St. Vincent, meets his match in the eccentric and headstrong Lady Pandora.

An eccentric wallflower…
Most debutantes dream of finding a husband. Lady Pandora Ravenel has different plans. The ambitious young beauty would much rather stay at home and plot out her new board game business than take part in the London Season. But one night at a glittering society ball, she’s ensnared in a scandal with a wickedly handsome stranger.

A cynical rake…
After years of evading marital traps with ease, Gabriel, Lord St. Vincent, has finally been caught-by a rebellious girl who couldn’t be less suitable. In fact, she wants nothing to do with him. But Gabriel finds the high-spirited Pandora irresistible. He’ll do whatever it takes to possess her, even if their marriage of convenience turns out to be the devil’s own bargain.

A perilous plot…
After succumbing to Gabriel’s skilled and sensuous persuasion, Pandora agrees to become his bride. But soon she discovers that her entreprenuerial endeavors have accidentally involved her in a dangerous conspiracy-and only her husband can keep her safe. As Gabriel protects her from their unknown adversaries, they realise their devil’s bargain may just turn out to be a match made in heaven…

      1. Speaking of Falling behind in reviews, I’ve 10 due in October and 7 books are coming out on the 4th. I haven’t read any yet!!! But I did go to the Historical Romance Retreat in Spokane, Washington, USA. Got my batteries charged.

      2. We’re terrible! I just can’t muster the enthusiasm to read some of my books, and I’ve been rereading all my favourites instead!

I hope you had a GREAT time at the retreat. I actually saved the link to the website so I could look at it again. I think it might be the best romance book convention I’ve ever seen.

  1. I’m annoyed by this blurb! Why did they have the 3rd paragraph – I feel like they have given the whole book away! This is just like a movie trailer where you feel like they just showed you the whole movie, but you’ll see it anyway because you like the actors. Frustrating. It sounds really good and I hope people will want to read it despite knowing what is likely to happen.

    1. Blurbs are weird these days. They’re either like this one, and give everything away, or they’re so vague they don’t make me interested in the book at all.
I don’t know who writes them for Lisa Kleypas, but they’re always really bad.

  2. Sonya, I know that I will have to drop anything I’m reading when Devil in Spring is published. I loved Marrying Winterborne but how could I not when Rhys is Welsh.
