The Flooded Library

The RUC at Turner was drenched in floodwater on Sunday Canberra Flood 25th February 2018

Canberra’s hot, practically rain-free summer turned into something else this weekend, with ALL of the rain we should have had falling in one day and flooding half the city. Now the sun’s back out, but the damage has been done.

The Australian National University’s library has been flooded and irreparable damage has been done to rare/irreplaceable books.

The ANU is ranked in the top twenty universities in the world, and is home to Nobel Prize winners – that should give you an idea how devastating this could be.

We’re simply not prepared for storms in Canberra, and so when one hits everything seems to fall to pieces…
