If you’re in the Southern Hemisphere, you’ll know it is summer now. In Canberra it has been in the mid to high thirties every day for weeks, and will be into the forseeable future.
Please – if you can – put some water outside your home. You never know what animals will use it, but I guarantee it will be appreciated.
I started putting water out when I got home from Europe in early October – front and back garden – and I’ve had to top it up most days since then (twice a day at the moment).
Animals I know for certain use that water: about seventeen types of bird, a possum and her baby, multiple cats (some owned, some possibly stray), and the odd dog that escapes its backyard and comes visiting.
So: any tray or bowl will do! If you’re hot and thirsty, so are the animals. And we have no rain in inland Australia, so it’s extra important!
